Rules

Rules
DRAMA
RP drama is inevitable. However, this doesn't mean disputes can't be handled civilly between players. If players are unable to end a dispute between themselves, they should contact the moderator at vocaladrenalinemod@gmail.com.

Individuals that start drama will only be given one warning before being dismissed from the game on the second offense. The same is true of those who are found to be participating in and/or encouraging drama. There will be no exceptions - drama will not be tolerated here.
OOC/MARY SUES/GODMODDING
In short, don't do it.

Players need to be sure they have a firm idea of their character's personality and the game's premise before applying. Likewise, players should make sure they're staying in character.

Mary Sues/Gary Stus and godmodding are also not allowed.

Mary Sues and Gary Stus are characters who are just plain too good to be true. All characters should have faults. No one is perfect.

Godmodding is when you are controlling someone else's characters without their permission. It's not fun, so don't do it.

If any of the above is seen happening with a character, the player will receive two warnings before being removed from the game on the third offense.
SPELLING AND GRAMMAR
Netspeak is forbidden in the main community, and only allowed for emphasis/lulz in the ooc community. In the journals, it should be used realistically.

Both spelling and grammar are important, so looking over your post before hitting submit never hurts. If you use Firefox, there should be an inline spellchecker already installed on your browser. With this, your browser will point out misspelled words as you type, à la Microsoft Word. This should successfully prevent a majority of spelling issues. Just be aware, and we won't make a fuss over a few typos.

Hanging participles are permitted.
CHARACTER LIMIT
Players are currently only allowed 3 characters max (although this number is subject to change). Additionally, players cannot play two characters that would interact regularly. Players seeking additional characters should allow five days between applying for new characters, although an exception may be made for extremely active players.
ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
Players are expected to post at least 1 journal entry or log every two weeks as well as keep up with replies to other characters and threads. These must also be of a significant nature - a journal post that is just song lyrics just isn't going to meet the requirement, but is totally welcome. This post has some helpful hints for making your threading up to par and helpful for those you play with. Everyone has bad days, but please try to keep this fun for everyone by giving them something to work with.

Activity checks will occur once a month, and I will email players who need to make a post or risk removal. Players who have not made a post or participated in a thread within the three days after that email will be removed. Characters that make this list more than two times in a row (or continuously meet the bare minimum to resist removal) will be given a warning for not meeting activity requirements. After a warning, this character will be removed on the second offense.
HIATUSES
Hiatuses are allowed. An overly-long hiatus (as well as constant hiatuses) could result in your dismissal from the game. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with school is a lot different than not having access to a computer for a certain length of time). If a player needs additional time, some exceptions may be made.
SHIPPING
Slash, het, and femmeslash are all permitted. However, there should be no disproportionate tilt towards any particular orientation. Keep in mind if your character is anything other than heterosexual that they should be played as the setting requires.

Also, bear in mind that character relationships need to be born of an agreement between both players, as well as believable. If players seem to have joined solely for shipping purposes (and are disregarding other parts of the game for it) or are forcing certain ships on other players they will only receive one warning before being dismissed from the game.
PLOTS
Plots should be created with the pervasive storyline in mind and the RPG should not be used solely for any one purpose (shipping, for example).

Major plots (death, rape, and pregnancy) must be run by the mod, and will require elaboration on why this is a good idea.
LOCKING ENTRIES
A character profile for your character must be unlocked. You may remove contact information if you like, but this is required to allow new players the chance to see how their characters would fit in. Other journal entries are strongly encouraged to also remain unlocked.

Threads that are rated "Adult Content" should be locked to the community. All other threads should be open to permit prospective players to preview plots and the like before joining.

Posts in the OOC community should be friends-locked, with few exceptions, most of which will go through the mods. This is to protect privacy and keep things neat and tidy!
JOURNALS
The characters all have journals to keep in touch, because it's the cool thing to do, and because they are required. The journals are essentially blogs that are for the general consumption of adoring fans, crazed lunatics, and maybe some of their friends. Commenting on other's entries is highly encouraged.

Entries posted in journals are viewable to everyone unless stated otherwise.

Strike-outs are readable and indicate text was marked out but is still able to be read.
Bolded strike-outs, however, are not and represent text that has been scribbled out.
Privated text should be formatted as follows:

[Private to Recipient's Name Here]

Text here.

[/Private]

It should always be assumed, unless stated otherwise, that if a private is not addressed to your character (s)he cannot "break into" the other characters' journal.

Make sure to clarify the recipient(s) of a private addressed to certain characters. Saying something like "close friends" is too vague. Instead, list the names of those the private is addressed to. Established character groups (such as those on the character list), however, are acceptable.

THREADS
Thread headings should be formatted as follows:

Who:
Where:
When: [morning, evening, between what events of the day]
What: [A short summary of the scene. Maybe what it's trying to achieve, what spawned it into being, and etc.]
Rating: [For simplicity's sake, you can just use 'No Adult Content'/Worksafe or 'Adult Content'/Not Work Safe. Adult Content is, of course, graphic sex or violence. State which (graphic sex or violence) applies to a post labeled with Adult Content.]

THREAD FORMAT

All entries in the community should be tagged appropriately. For everyone's convenience, please do this yourself. If you need a new tag, just ask!
