While William McKinley High's New Directions were launching themselves forward into the world of show choir once more, all was not quiet with their illustrious competition, Vocal Adrenaline of Carmel High, Lima, Ohio.

Students were being failed multiple times in order to keep the talent in the choir, the academic requirement having been long since dropped. Some were plagued with injuries and illness, stemming from their strict diets, frequent excercise, and lack of sleep. The dance director, Dakota Stanleys, was furiously nicknamed "The Monster" for his vicious rehearsal schdule and brutally difficult choreography, and the vocal director, Lucy Coase, was just as bad. Tears were virtually constant in the hallways of the school, as one student or another let something under their skin.

Vocal Adrenaline was supposed to make you somebody, bring fame, prove talent, but instead, it turned you into little more than a machine of song and dance. And once you collapsed, you were brought down to the lowest of the low, dropped from the team, and the talentless cheerleaders and jocks paraded over you like so much dirt. Then you had nothing to do but try to make the best of it - and return yourself to the team when the next person fell.

It wasn't easy, being nigh on famous, and having nothing but pain to show for it.

It's not easy being part of Vocal Adrenaline.
